Green chilli belongs to the family gene capsicum, a member of the nightshade family and are the life and soul of a hearty Indian meal, without which dishes seem incomplete.
Antioxidant Vitamin C in green chillies protects the body from effects of harmful free radicals and prevents stress. It is probably the high fibre which helps in controlling blood sugar levels and is also a welcome addition to a diabetic diet.
We can’t think of Indian cooking without a dash of green chillies. Slit, sliced, chopped or diced, we just have to add a few green chillies to add that spicy and tang flavour to our food and is an important start in the Indian cooking for all savory dishes like curries, dals, breads and appetizers. Be it the Indian Bhuna, Tadka or the Hara Masala all have a blend of green chillies added to it.
Green chillies can be bagged loosely in plastic, paper or netted bags and stored in the refrigerator.
